BuddyApp (Pty) Ltd ("BuddyApp", "we", "us", "our") is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and secure experience for all users of the BuddyApp platform, including Clients and Buddies (domestic workers and service providers). This Safety Policy forms part of the BuddyApp Terms & Conditions and applies to all Users.

Safety on BuddyApp is a shared responsibility. By using the Platform, you agree to follow this Safety Policy at all times.

1Purpose of the Safety Policy

The purpose of this Safety Policy is to:

  • Promote safe interactions between Clients and Buddies
  • Reduce risks associated with in-home services
  • Set clear rules and responsibilities for all Users
  • Establish guidelines for reporting incidents or unsafe behaviour
  • Protect Clients, Buddies, and their property
  • Comply with South African safety regulations and POPIA

2Safety Responsibilities of Clients

Clients agree to:

  • • Provide a safe working environment free from hazards
  • • Store valuables securely
  • • Treat Buddies with respect and dignity
  • • Not request illegal or dangerous tasks
  • • Not harass, threaten, or intimidate Buddies
  • • Ensure minors are supervised
  • • Give clear instructions before work starts
  • • Not pressure Buddies into unsafe tasks

3Safety Responsibilities of Buddies

Buddies agree to:

  • • Work safely, professionally, and responsibly
  • • Use tools and chemicals correctly
  • • Not perform unsafe or unqualified tasks
  • • Not be under the influence while working
  • • Report unsafe conditions immediately
  • • Respect Client property and privacy
  • • Not bring unauthorised persons to a Client's home
  • • Maintain hygiene and neat presentation

4Prohibited Conduct

Strictly prohibited:

  • • Violence or threats
  • • Harassment or discrimination
  • • Theft or property damage
  • • Sexual harassment
  • • Carrying weapons
  • • Fraud
  • • Off-platform payments
  • • Entering private rooms without permission
  • • Recording Clients without consent

5Safety During Bookings

Both Clients and Buddies should:

  • Keep communication inside BuddyApp
  • Verify profiles before entry
  • Avoid sharing unnecessary personal info
  • Secure pets if dangerous
  • Ensure good lighting and ventilation
  • Avoid locked-room situations

6Personal Safety Tips

For Buddies:

  • • Share job details with someone you trust
  • • Keep phones charged
  • • Avoid carrying cash
  • • Trust your instincts and leave unsafe environments
  • • Verify Client details before entering

For Clients:

  • • Confirm Buddy identity
  • • Store valuables away
  • • Secure pets
  • • Provide clear instructions
  • • Avoid leaving Buddies alone with sensitive materials

8Incident Reporting

All Users must report:

  • • Unsafe conditions
  • • Accidents or injuries
  • • Harassment or discrimination
  • • Theft or damage
  • • Suspicious behaviour
  • • Any safety policy violations

Actions BuddyApp may take:

BuddyApp will:

  • Verify users when needed
  • Protect personal information under POPIA
  • Respond promptly to safety concerns
  • Remove dangerous Users
  • Assist with disputes where possible
  • Provide safety guidelines
